Before you decide to retire in India, you may need to travel back and forth a few times especially if you're planning to purchase a retirement home. Below are 10 essentials that will ensure your safety, health, and overall comfort during your trip.


Here are 10 must-have items to consider:

  1. Backpack: There's lots of walking when you're traveling so pack your essentials in this roomy backpack and keep your hands free. You may even consider carrying it on the front to prevent any pickpockets.

  2. Travel documents: Carry your passport, visa (if required), travel insurance information, and any necessary permits or identification documents. Check dates on all your documents to ensure they're up to date. Make a soft copy of all your travel documents and email them to yourself so that you have a backup, in case of an emergency. Passports, etc may be requested while you are sightseeing hence keep them in this nifty case to ensure everything remains together and nothing is lost.

  3. Power Bank/Portable Charger: Have you ever had a sinking feeling when you know your cell phone is dying? Well, this power bank will be able to rescue you anywhere in the world, it's got 3 USB ports. A must have in any emergency situation, especially when they have those pesky power outages in India or when you're in a remote area without electricity!

  8. Mosquito season: Pack lightweight, breathable fabrics but don't pack too much because you'll be enthralled by the fabric and clothes available for purchase in India. Wear long sleeves and pants if you're in India during the monsoon season and be sure to get these bracelets to ward off pesky mosquitos before they become a nuisance.

  9. Delhi Belly is real: If you eat something which causes Delhi Belly, it's a good idea to be prepared with these tablets. Pop a few and you'll be back on schedule.Most medicines are available in India (much cheaper, also) but till you locate a reputable pharmacy, it's better to be prepared.

  10. Avoid Overweight Baggage: There's so much to purchase in India, it's easy to get carried away and end up with overweight luggage!
