Ready to Reimagine your Golden Years? In India?

Based on data from the UN (2020), about 18 million Indians live outside India. Many of these Indians migrated to foreign lands in the 60s, at the invitation of  western countries needing a highly skilled population to help them with their infrastructure.   This creme de la creme of the Indian diaspora, now near retirement, are contemplating a possible reconnection with their motherland by moving back to India on a full or part time basis.

Why India?

India offers a cost-effective lifestyle compared to many other countries.

There are many benefits to retiring in the land of your ancestors.

Retirees can enjoy a comfortable standard of living without straining their finances. The availability of quality healthcare, affordable housing, and a diverse range of recreational activities makes retiring in India an appealing choice.

There are some drawbacks, also....check out our blog.

Ethnogeriatrics is a field of study which provides ethnic specific care and which recognizes the impact of our native land, language, religion and culture in our golden years.  In fact, there's a phenomenon called ‘language reversion’, discovered by Michael Clyne, where the aging population/elderly migrants begin to forget the second language, (the dominant language of their adopted land), and to ‘revert’ to their native language(the language of their motherland).  In the course of Clyne's study, he found evidence for second language attrition and first language reversion among his elderly informants (Clyne, 1981).

Keeping these studies and research in mind, it makes sense to consider retirement on a part time or full time basis in India.
